I purchased the Sirocco Jumpsuit a few days after Deer and Doe released their recent collection. I have a rule that I only buy a new pattern if I’m going to make it immediately. Since Deer and Doe patterns are drafted with someone with my body shape and bust size I thought it would be a good purchase.
When the pattern was released I’d been thinking I’d need a comfortable and stylish aeroplane outfit for our European adventure. I don’t like wearing sweatpants and T-shirts in public so this felt like the perfect balance between the two. I was worried that a tiny aeroplane toilet might be an issue but the garment can be taken on and off easily.
This pattern is designed to be made in a knit fabric and has no closures. You simply pull it on and off. I used Ponte for mine and made it in size 42.
I made no changes to the pattern however I changed the construction order. I basically ignored the instructions – I used the notches as my guide. As it’s a knit pattern I set the sleeves in flat before sewing up the side seams. I avoid setting in sleeves in the round where I can. I added woven stay tape to the shoulder seams which I do for all knit garments. The hems were sewn on my Coverstitch.
I love this pattern it’s a comfy and modern jumpsuit which is more stylish than sweatpants. I can’t recommend it enough! I’m planning to use the bodice section of the pattern for the top of a dress or as a top with a wrap tie. I could also see this pattern made as separates if jumpsuits aren’t your thing!
This jumpsuit was a great addition to my travel wardrobe!

I love this on you, it looks great! I’ve been tempted by this pattern but haven’t made the leap yet. Do you think it could work for a breastfeeding mama without hacking?

Thank you! It’s super comfortable and yes I think it would be great for breastfeeding! It’s easy to pull the front to the side – you might need to make sure you have stretchy enough fabric.

I love your version! I’ve been looking at so many of these (I’m not fashion forward and the only “jumpsuit” I own is a onesie–type-loungewear-suit). Thank you so much for including a butt picture (they are hard to find for this pattern)!
My question to you is: Do you think it is dressy enough to wear to work (not fomal, obviously, but relaxed office appropriate)? And also…as the pants are jersey…do they get stuck in embarassing places? I’m really debating if a jersey jumpsuit is right for me because I’m worried about my butt showing too much. I usually only wear jeans, so I’d appreciate the comfort of jersey pants but the slinkier fabric tends to show things more clearly…..Maybeyou can give me an opinion?

Hi Alex personally I haven’t worn it to work because my mindset for this garment is casual weekend look. However my friend who is a CEO has a couple of these and rocks them to work. It’s all about the styling. I always try and include images from as many angles as possible so I’m glad it’s helpful for you! 😘
