Liberty tracksuit

My husband Paul loves a two-piece statement outfit. Mostly I make them for festivals. This time I made a tracksuit to wear that is nice and colourful to bring him joy and stay cosy in! I enjoy wearing my matching tracksuit – I knew he would love one too!

My friend Jo and I took part in a fabric fair. At the end of the day, we traded our leftover fabrics with each other. I thought that this Liberty of London fleece sweat-shirting that I traded with Jo would make a great tracksuit, and Paul agreed. The red rib-knit was purchased from Backstreet Bargains.

He has lived in this outfit since I made it for him. He wears the pieces separately or as a full outfit. The top is his favourite Paxson sweater. I must have used this pattern 20 times, at least! The pants are the Huy pants pattern.

Wearing just the sweatshirt with other garments I’ve made him.

Under my supervision, Paul cut out the garment. I constructed the garments using my overlocker. Joining the non-roll elastic was the only part done using the sewing machine. The whole set came together in less than 4 hours!

Paul loves wearing this outfit when we travel. He has been asked if he is wearing his PJs. It doesn’t bother him, as at least he is much more comfortable.

We are on the lookout for more fabric to make another version that is just as popular with our cat Maknoon!

Maknoon has a habit of climbing on Paul’s back.
