This is my third version of the Silvia Coatigan by Schnittchen Patterns. This coat was part of my winter sewing plans and my frocktails outfit. My other versions of this coat can be seen here and here.
My skin gets so pale in winter so I’m try to warm it up by incorporating berry tones into my wardrobe. Berry colours contrast perfectly with my the other colours in my closet.
I’ve worn this coat consistently since I made it a couple of months ago. It came together pretty easily. The only difference to the instructions is I lined the pockets with the outer fabric and added stay tape to the drop shoulder seam.

I struggled with the attaching the lining to the outer and ended up hand sewing the lining to the hem and sleeves. I will eventually attempt to bag a lining!
I sized two sizes from my earlier versions. This one is size 42. I wanted a bit more ease in across the hips. At some point I will sew a single hook and eye closure to the center front it will help to keep my coat closed on windy days.
I can imagine making another Silvia to replace my worn out grey version.
I hope you give the Silvia coatigan a go! It’s a great beginner coat pattern and a timeless design.
Happy sewing
